Sadly, due to the pandemic, we have decided to cancel this year’s event. Early discussion with the Club Manager at Craibstone has revealed that catering there is unlikely to resume for the remainder of this year and without catering, the event can’t take place. Added to that is the possibility of social distancing being extended for ‘vulnerable’ adults (over 70s), which is in direct conflict with the friendly ethos of the championship. We also had to consider the possibility, be it great or small, of a resurgence in the virus, which may impact on golf generally, far less our championship.

Hopefully, the situation will improve by next year so that we can look at the resumption of the championship.

Such was the positive feedback from players last year, NE Branch members initially decided to host this 2 day national golf event for a third consecutive year and for both days to be at Craibstone GC, with a practice day on 30 July and the main competition the following day.

The photo shows some of the happy players who attended one of the events and incidentally and as can be seen from the photograph, it doesn’t always rain in Aberdeen!  In fact it didn’t rain on any of the four days played over the previous two years!
